Starting today and ending July 2, you can log on at www.worldseriesofpoker.com and nominate a poker player for this year's list of potential inductees.

Each submission allows for the name of one nominee and up to 250 words about why they deserve a spot in the Poker Hall of Fame.

The main criteria for a player to be considered include having played poker against acknowledged top competition, played for high stakes, played consistently well to gain the respect of peers and stood the test of time.

Non-players can also be nominated if they've contributed to the overall growth and success of the game with "indelible positive and lasting results."

During the Main Event this year, Harrah's will announce the Top 10 list of public nominees.

The Hall of Fame committee will then take time in August to review the public's nominations and determine if any other figures from the poker community should be on the list.

In September, that final list will be sent to the 16 living current Hall of Famers (among them Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Barbara Enright), who will rank the nominees in order of preference - and only ranking those they deem worthy of admission in 2009.

Each Hall of Famer will also be able to add a write-in candidate that won't be eligible for 2009, but will automatically be included for consideration in 2010.

A select group of media members will also be sent a ballot for ranking the finalists. Voting will be done in private, but Hall of Famers and media members aren't obligated to keep the vote secret.

The Hall of Fame committee will review the ballots and finalize any tie-breakers.

Any finalist that receives 75% or more of the votes will be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame during the enshrinement ceremony at the final table of the Main Event in November.
